Seaside trip July 2017
Our seaside trip to Southend-on-Sea was hugely successful. The day was clear and there was plenty of walking, talking and dipping our feet in the sea. Everyone enjoyed themselves. These programmes help us combat loneliness and isolation amongst the elderly.
International yoga day June 2017
More than 70 people attended the session at Chalvey Community Centre, including Slough Borough Council Leader Cllr Sohail Munawar. In between to gentle yoga sessions, Slough Council for Voluntary Service Chief Executive Ramesh Kukar spoke on the 'secret to happiness' before Dr Kesar Sadhra talked about the medical benefits of exercise.
Crime Prevention Workshop March 2017
The local neighbourhood policing team from Chalvey and Cippenham ( PC Sam Robinson, PCSO Surinder Marway, PCSO Ateeque Baig, PCSO Jaz Sohi) visited The Slough Senior Citizens Group at Brook House and offered crime prevention advice to all that attended.
The team covered a variety of topics from Distraction burglary (checking relevant details of all persons entering property), Asian gold and where to store it, general house security, mobile phones (storing important details), debit cards (protecting PIN details) and general safety whilst out and about.
There were open questions at the end and crime prevention leaflets and timer switches were given out. The session was attended well by the citizens. The team suggested that they are always willing to offer free advice and support to all residents of the community.
